In 2012, the Government of Canada signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Mozambique to support the Provincial Health Directorate of the Zambézia Province. Their goal was improving the maternal and child health program. One of the activities was to build an operation block and a Maternity at the Health Centre of Mulevala District (about 150 km from the city of Quelimane).
WE Consult performed a study to investigate the different options to supply the Health Centre of Mulevala with water, give an indication of the costs of the different options and design a solar powered, piped water supply system. As part of the assignments, WE Consult conducted a (field)survey which included a well inventory on both surface and ground water in the project area, a geophysical survey with Electrical Resistivity Tomography (2D) as well as a topographical survey.
